Eid Card Competition 2024

To celebrate Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim Council of Wales teamed up with My Salah Mat to run an eid card competition for Muslim children in Wales.

My Salah Mat was founded by Kamal Ali, a Newport based entrepreneur who has developed a range of educational toys and books, reaching an international audience.

We asked children in Wales to design the Muslim Council of Wales’ Eid al-Fitr card, which will be sent across Wales to faith leaders, Members of Senedd and Members of Parliament, local councils, schools, and other civic leaders.

We had nearly 100 entries from across Wales, showcasing some incredible talent. Our judges were
•⁠ ⁠Kamal Ali, founder of My Salah Mat
•⁠ ⁠Jamilla Hekmoun, Executive Member of the Muslim Council of Wales and PhD student at Trinity St Davids
•⁠ ⁠Helen Criddle, Administrative Co-ordinator of the Muslim Council of Wales
•⁠ ⁠Mariyah Zaman, founder of Now In A Minute Media, an arts and media collective based in Wales.

The judges were amazed at the creativity, imagination, and skill of all the entries.

There could only be one winner. Muhammad Rayyan Salim entry was chosen, he impressed all the judges with his bright, detailed, and very talented drawing. Twelve-year old Muhammad, from Swansea, will receive a bundle including a My Salah Mat and a My Quran Pad.

10 runners up will also be sent books (Ramadan in Space or The Train to al-Aqsa).

All entries were incredible however, so we wanted to share them below. Well done to everyone who participated, and praying for a blessed and peaceful Eid al-Fitr, especially for the beloved children of Gaza.
